I go food shopping at 9pm and park as far away as possible in 2 spaces because the number of times I have parked with 20 spaces around me and come back to a shitter parked next to me in an empty car park are uncanny. I always ensure if I park in 2 spaces, if anyone challenges me I can point to at least 20 spaces they can park, I'm just taking the decision to park next to me and dent my car out of their hands.

Honestly you're asking for trouble doing that. I think someone is much more likely to look at your car because it's ridiculously parked and scratch it.

I'll take my chances. It takes more effort to scratch a car than not to care about what your opening your door onto. + if I caught someone scratching my car on purpose I would have a better defence for my actions than if someone had 'accidentally' dented my car.

I'm so OCD about it that I don't go anywhere that the car park will be full. I have witnessed a guy slamming his door against my Racing Puma's front wing (hard to get hold of, made from Aluminium and around £1,000 unpainted) and he (and the general public) were surprised at my discontent.

I am not advocating parking unreasonably but if you care about your car you need to draw a line somewhere. I have a nice door dent in my front wing on the Z because I thought the 2 space in an empty car park thing was unreasonable :headbang:

+1 I'm the same, nothing wrong with a parking strategy!
