Turns out i suck at detailing!

Nope very happy with the coupe...i have a bmw z4 keyring for my actual car keys, alcohol and cars should never mix.

Not so well can't make up my mind. I want 19" csls but I don't want to sell the 108's and at the moment that's the only way I can fund it. So I am staying with what I have got who knows want Santa will bring???

Glad your not like jimmy. Must be an awesome job that's got to give a warm fuzzy feeling.
 
I just discovered a new way of drying the car after a wash without the scratchy towels...entirely watermark free result too


1) Warm engine before wash. HOON AROUND FOR 20 MINUTES

2) Wash car

3) HOON AROUND for a further 10 minutes

4) Return for rest of the detailing

Disclaimer...does not work for raining days, muddy days, and only works for upper panels like the roof bonnet and boot. side skirts and bumpers may need further washing.
 
Mine's black, it's a real bugger of a job keeping it looking 100%. I have this summer bought a DA polisher and have got some great results using dodo juice lime pre wax polish and a polishing and finishing pad,then a final wax and buff off.It wasn't perfect, but I don't think I'd ever get it perfect without loads more time, effort and/or kit and/or talent. It did IMO look amazing and was really pleased with it. I'm happy to bring the machine over and show anyone how to use it if your not too far away.
 
I think I'd be like you spend loads on stuff and then never seem to get it right. It's just one of those things I think that looks piss easy but actually takes a bit of skill.

I was thinking of seei g if I could get some one to teach me how to do it. On the tv they just seem to chuck a bit of stuff on the car and then wizz over with a fluffy angle grinder and job done!

Just Lime Primed mine by hand... Coat of Purple Haze Pro going on after lunch. I love having a garage. Might have a beer whilst doing it too :D

I tried this to remove a minor mark on my VX and turned into a major mark :headbang:

Everytime I walked towards the car from the rear it would jump up and shout at me, I was devastated.

I then discovered devil shine, wash your car, pour on devil shine and leather dry. Looks like you've polished it, specially when it rains and the water beads.

G3 is a non decreasing abrasive.

Dont use it or you will only make things worse.

oh :o it seemed to do a really good job for me ... it was on gel coat tho ....

it was described to me as a cutting compound and allowed me to take 1500 grit marks out of a little bit of repair work i did.
 
Yes, the grit it has remains active - i.e. it does not dissolve so you will eventually scratch the paintwork off.

Always use a decreasing abrasive compound - the grit from 1500 will get to 0.

Google it.
 
yeah i get it, it worked well on the gelcoat to bring up the sheen but you did have to polish it in after. i found it better than working up through higher levels of wet and dry. faracla do recomend you use P10 after this.
 
In a word no...however i am getting better at ignoring the fact that it is not detailed. if you fancy it we should meet up around chrimbo time and perhaps that will motivate me to give it another go...
