First off, Jay I told you not to say s**t
I have an order in for the shark injector software. The software is supposed to be ready, but they either have not made / are back-ordered on the physical obdii programmer units they ship on. They said it should ship this coming week.
After speaking with Drew at TMS, the graphs above are not quite an accurate reflection of what to expect. They are misleading and from an old (<2003) 330i. However, this being a new product, there isn't much other info out now. He said I could expect more mid-range torque, and a small bump in top end HP, up to 10HP. This is in line with what other shark injector products are delivering. Its not a miracle, but it is $370 for a modest bump. I'm not interested in the top-end gain nearly as much as I am with what this software can add in the low and mid-ranges.
I'm still undecided on whether I intend to dyno test the software install. I have no affiliation with TMS and have no reason to dump out another ~$100 for the dyno time on top of the cost of the software. I know thats not what everyone wants to hear, but the best I can report will likely be my gut (butt) feelings on it, as well as mpg comparisons (I've been tracking MPG since I did the vanos seal repair).
So, I doubt its going to be a massive improvement, but its less than the costs of 1 dinan part, and the shark injector program has a fairly good track record so I'm willing to go shot-in-the-dark with it. Its not $500, its not a supercharger, but I'm hoping for a modest improvement. Not to mention, it is un-doable via the same programmer in the event it turns out to be a total crock or interferes with anything, like my SMG operation.
Here's to hoping.
