Trusted Tyre Fitter?

I'm very tempted to buy some new alloys and tyres, both online from two sources.

I'm racking my brain for a tyre place near that isn't just full of teenage tyre monkeys that will be able to fit the tyres without marking pristine wheels, and won't just whack ugly balancing weights on anywhere they feel.

What do you OCD guys do?

I bought tyres online for the first time last year and was worried about this. My route was simple; I bought online with the fully fitted price, looked at the options given for fitters and took the one that said they could fit the biggest tyre sizes (21" in this case) thinking that anyone that could deal with that size of blingy wheel would be OK with my 19" Alpina Dynamics. I then phoned said place and told them the wheels were recently refurbed and that I was a bit paranoid. They were good as gold. Turned out the place I chose did agricultural vehicles, were used to odd sizes and were enthusiasts themselves. They took a lot of care and invited me to watch while it was done. They also asked how long since the refurn as the paint would be soft and they'd have to take care or maybe even decline to fit.

I guess if you phone and ask if you can watch it will give you some confidence if they say yes.

Thanks Stuart,

I've been to a few local ones when having the current, albeit corroded ellipsoids rebalanced and they used a dirty knife to slice off the old weights. Imagine that on a new alloy!

Any pics of the Alpina alloys? I've been eyeing up the reps

I sold #69 and bought IMmie (an Imola M, hence the silly name) but here you go

I go to my Dealer tyre specialist work done in Dealer conditions and he is a mature done it for years guy

He always matches Micheldever Tyres prices and needless to say I can have 100% confidence

Tyred both cars through him

it has nothing to do with ocd

I know it doesn't help but I've got two local favortites in melton mowbray.

Andys tyres - know the tyre fitter from school and he takes extra care when it's me and always does the full spec 4 point wheel balance too, setting up the machine properly (which QF / regular tyre monkeys don't)
Belmont metal finishing - they refurbish wheels and I've had many sets done so know the guy well. They have special nylon heads on their tyre machines and take extra care for obvious reasons - ie if they'd just refurbed a rim and then scratched it, they're paying for the second refurb.

Yeah, i might go to an alloy wheel repair place to get the tyres fitted, at least they should know to take care.

Well it does and it doesnt. The reason i asked the ocd crowd is to see what they did. I'm not one to wash the car every week, hell, every month even, but a scuff on a wheel before fitting would annoy me!

Do you get the 'stuck on' wheel weights or the ones that clip to the inside edge of the rim? I imagine on an open rim wheel the stuck on weights look a little messy.

I ordered my Vreds through Black Circles who deliver the tyres to a local fitter of your choice from an extensive list. You even get to pick a day and time slot.
I chose a local Alloy Wheel specialist and they were great.
Could of got tyres cheaper from Camskills but then you need to find a fitter yourself and get the tyres to them.
