Trunk light

I don't know if it's just me or what, but I think BMW has been a little stingy with the trunk lighting. I was thinking adding a couple other light sources: one in the back and one on the left side. Did anyone ever attemted this?

The dark carpeting doesn't help the poor trunk lighting. I tapped into the existing light bracket and hooked up a LED strip. I attach4ed it to the underside of the moveable "package" tray. I'll try to take a pic but there isn't much to it really. Unless there is more reflective material you won't increase visibility much back there.

Since I'm seldom in my trunk at night, I took a small (2" x 6"), 2 AA battery operated closet light and put some velcro hook tape on it and stuck it to the left side trunk lining oposite the existing trunk light. It actually made quite a difference. Plus, I can pull it out and use it outside the car as well.

I put a 12" CCFL across the top (movable tray thing) wired into my trunk light. With the tray up it illuminates the entire trunk like daytime, with the tray down it illuminates the front portion where most of my stuff is anyways. First day I had my car I knew the single wedge bulb wasn't going to cut it. Total cost me < 10$ and they come in pairs so you have 1 extra.
