Anyone fancy a trip to La Coupole in France? It's a huge concrete dome which housed the German WW2 rocket effort but now houses a museum re the same. It's on the A26 near J3 at Wizernes, so about an hour from Calais. Takes about 2.5hrs to look around, then a spot of lunch somewhere nice (i.e hot foot it to Le Touquet or Boulogne) and back to Calais for Eurotunnel home. Thinking of late September/early October.

I am going to go anyway, but would be nice to have a convoy of Zeds and some inestimable company.

I'm planning be off to France on the morning of Friday 24th sept, taking the z4 on it's first decent stretch (well, apart from Exeter this weekend)! :) If it's ok, I might join you on the outbound leg if that coincides with when you're off, it's only a short deviation from the path I need to take anyway! I'll be off to the middle of Normandy after that so probably would join you and the others for lunch afterwards if it's at Boulogne /Le Touquet, it all works out quite nicely! Of course, it'd also be nice to meet a few of the peeps off here!

Depending on the date, i might drop by. After all, a bunch of english Zeds coming to my country, how could i miss that ! :D

How about Saturday 18th September,(can't do 24th as its mid week) say an 8am'ish Eurotunnel. Or a bit later for those who like their festering pit?. Calais to La Coupole is about 40 mins on motorway. Wizernes to Le Touquet just over an hour. Le Touquet to Coquelles is about 1/2 to 3/4 hrs for ride back home on the train. If we really find la coupole that engrossing and tarry a while, we can always find somewhere close by for lunch. Moules, frites, du pain and tarte au pomme.

Currently £63 quid for 08.20 outbound, 17:20 inbound (vanilla, no insurance or other extras)

Try Norfolkline, you can get ferries from about 35quid depending on the time of day you're willing to travel... More comfy than the train too!

Now that I have Red Zed safely under my bum, I still intend to do the trip rain or shine.

Anyone still up for it? To make a day of it, train is quicker (I am a fan of norfolk Lines, but crossing longer and opposite direction to where we want to be)

fare is still £63 quid. We can stand around my car and watch Pulp Fiction, or Good Fellahs on the Nav!

Outbound between 0820 to 0850hrs, inbound between 1620-1750.

I favour 0820- 1750......but it is easy for me as I am about an hour 15 from there at Granny ppace.

Anyone? I am going whether billy no mates or not.

cheers

Need a couple more weeks to heal up, diving the M at the morning still hurts like hell.

Day: Saturday June 18th, ie next weekend.

Sorry you can't do this one pvr, but there will be others this year. I have to get my french fix at least 1/2 doz times a year. Hope whatever it is? heals up!

I am not looking to hit the booze shops, just a nice run out, a nice lunch, good company, a small shop for flan, fromage and madeleines to take home.

Burst appendix, operation few weeks back. Traditional op so fairly big cut.

Driving the x5 mainly at the moment as it is a bit less painful.

Will join next time, still have a number of eurotunnel tickets left over, would come back later though as I would visit family on the other side.

Your 3 months late then :poke:

If nothing else comes up, and ifthe weather is nice enough, there a very godd chance i'll join you. There's also a very good chance that a friend of mine who just bought his 3.0i comes along.
Juste let me know the time you hit la Coupole, and we'll catch up.

.....thanks for pointing out my error. I did of course mean Saturday 18th September.

I will keep an eye out for the weather for then and make a decision. I don't mind a bit of rain, but don't fancy a deluge and high winds to take the dairy off it.

Will not be going now. Unfortunately daughter in law has injured her arm quite badly....having just had our 2nd grandson, and I am babysitting 1st grandson to get him out of the way. Maybe in another few weeks. By then PVR may be well enough too?

Cheers
