Tramlining problem

Hi

I got my 3.0l si last month and finding today its tramlining slightly towards the left when driving at low speeds. The car was mot’d just before i got it, could it be a problem with wheel alignment? Its not on run flats, i read online the “bushes” can sometimes need replcing so unsure what to do.

Halfords charge £31 for wheel alignment is it worth starting there? Does the mot check alignment?

Thankd

Hi, MOT doesn’t test alignment but should check for worn bushes (lollipops)
Take it to a recommended garage that’s got 4 wheel alignment gear & get it checked

Get it checked by a garage. Shop around if you’ve not found a place you know/trust.

If it’s bushes will be fairly quick to sort and then take it to get an alignment.

Get alignment done properly. I’d avoid the likes of Halfords and Kwikfit. There are places recommended on here, so do some digging and find the nearest place to you.

If you can use a specialist company for wheel alignment. I used this company http://www.atec-align.co.uk/ in Huddersfield who did a great job. No doubt there will be a similar company near you.

Tyre pressures definitely make a difference, and I found with my 1 Series tyre wear did as well. It tended to wear the outer edges faster than the rest of the tread, and once they were getting low it tramlined quite badly - but nowhere near as bad as a Z4!

If you give an indication of where you are, someone may be able to recommend where to go for an alignment.

If it's going left be sure it's not simply the road camber pulling you that way.
+1
From the description OP it does sound like yours is just pulling to the left rather than tramlining. If it were tramlining it would be moving to both the left and right depending on the condition of the surface of the road.
That said, if it is genuinely tramlining then in 90%+ of cases its usually the tyres and they don't necessarily have to be that worn. When I had this I knew everything on the front was brand new and the alignment was right, so I swapped out the Michelin PS3 tyres for some brand new Goodyears F1s and the tramlining was gone.
