Traction Control not working/lights on dash

I brought the Z4 out for the bank holiday weekend after a winter hibernation. She started on the button.

One of the rear tyres had been losing pressure but I couldn't see any punctures. I took it in and as suspected the tyre was leaking on the inner bead due to corrosion on the rims. The corrosion was cleaned up and the tyre refitted using a tyre sealent round the beads. I'm going to get a full refurb in the next couple of weeks.

After about 15 miles of driving 2 warning lights came on the dash



They go off after the ignition is turned off for a few mins but reappear after about 5 mins of driving. I've done a few searches and tried the lock to lock several times on the steering.

I'm thinking it's mostly likely a wheel sensor as it seems a coincidence it coincided with the removal of the wheel.

Are there any sensors on the actual wheel that could have been moved/damaged or are they attached to the brakes?

I should add that the engine performance is not affected in any way with the lights on.

In fact since the tyre has been holding pressure, the shaky steering at high speed seems to have disappeared.

What engine do you have? If it's an M54, those two lights would suggest a pressure sensor on the master cylinder. Easy and cheap to replace.

Yes, it's the 3.0 M54 engine.

Could it have been damaged by the wheel removal or is possibly just a coincidence?

Hi, I had this exact same problem a month ago, after scanning with ISTA+ it showed 5e20 and 5e21 codes. I replaced both pressure sensors on the master cylinder and bingo, problem goes away! Good luck, if it is that then it's a very easy DIY job.

Can't see how - master cylinder is in engine bay, so probably just coincidence. In any case, problems with wheel speed sensor almost always bring on the handbrake warning light in red.

I've ordered a code reader to see what gets thrown up.

Looking at various threads and as ph001 states, looks like changing the pressure sensors usually clears the lights.

Is it case of just unscrewing the sensors or is any bleeding required? Can someone provide a link to the sensors I need please? Do they need to be genuine BMW?

The lights went out by themselves and haven't returned since. I didn't change any sensors. Since then I've had my wheels refurbed and new rubber put on.

Had this problem on mine, disconnected the pressure sensors cleaned the contacts, reconnected and the warnings went away. The circuit test voltages the cars control units use is very low so bad connections can easily throw up faults.
