Traction Control coming on at high speed!

It has happened to me a few times now for no apparent reason. I take a long bend on the motorway at 70pm :) and the traction control light flashes. I am definatly not spinning any wheels or sliding the car, keeping it well within its limits but it's making me a bit nervouse!

Anybody else experienced this or know any theories? It happened twice on my way to work this morning, dry conditions 12 degrees C.

Hmm sounds strange this one! Does it only happen on shallow fast bends? Does it only happen in one direction? Does the TC cut engine power like normal?

The DSC system comprises of Yaw sensors, Steering angle sensor and wheel speed sensors, so i would guess one of those it providing an occasionally implausible signal. Unfortunately that doesn't narrow things down much does it!?

I would start off turning your wheels lock to lock a few times after starting to help recalibrate the steering angle sensor. Also make sure your tyres are well inflated and the tyre warning calibrated. Beyond that i believe you need to read off the wheel speeds while driving :(
 
Ok, thanks for your input! My tracking is out so my steering wheel when driving straight is around 4 degrees to the right, the traction light only comes on when going around right hand bends now you mention it! I'm not that well up on the yaw sensors etc. but could it be the steering angle sensor thinking I'm putting more lock on than I am? There is no interference from the traction system other than the flashing lights.
 
Yep, if you're tracking is off, the steering angle senor is offset. You should get the car re-tracked, but you could also goto any BMW specialist and get the Adaptation reset on the wheel in its 'straight on' position.
 
Yep, all makes sense now, will get the tracking reset ASAP, only reason I haven't yet is I think the cars tracking is bang on, just been set up with the steering wheel not straight!

Reasuring to know the traction conrol wasn't the only thing keeping me on the road! :driving:
