Track Days? - No thanks Quadracer

Seen that lots of times and I still don't understand what happened. He was already out of control when he appeared over the crest - before I would have been on the brakes

I was shown that before my first track day, put me off a little but still went and glad I did. It looks like it could be a problem with the car because you can't really see why it happened. It could have been a lot worse on the roads with other vehicles lamp posts etc

Too true.... Might have to come and watch how you proper drivers do it though.......

Other users can see you coming. They plainly can't see me as I've been hit twice now in 2 months. :x

I've raced at Castle Combe myself.
The only difference is that I was on a bicycle in a road race although the final sprint was probably more dangerous (but less expensive).

I'm at Snetterton tomorrow (Sunday) if you get bored come over. I'll take you for a spin.

Ah B**ger! :headbang:

I'll be bored but I'm committed to doing some work for my 89 year old Mum-in-Law........... :|

Have fun and don't use up all your tyres and brake pads :driving:

I think castle Combe is an excellent track to watch the action at but that vid certainly makes you realise what can happen, they were certainly thrown around a bit.

1st issue was that it was a 'magazine' day where you pay for your 15-20 minutes and everyone goes out to prove they're the fastest, rather than a proper (open pit-lane preferably) track day where you have plenty of time to get up to speed :headbang:

2nd issue was that the Z4 looked like he didn't use the rule of 'brake before or after, but never on Avon Rise' :headbang:

3rd issue was that is was a roadster, and everyone knows they're only good for posing at low speeds, or crashing :poke:

Seen plenty of accidents there myself, and have even been off (in my Corrado, a long time ago) - but in my case it was because a Grant Motorsport car decided to use the day as a test day for the next weekend's race, and tried to dive up the inside/right of me into the corner (where there was supposed to be no overtaking) and I had to take avoiding action. Still came out of the corner neck & neck with him though :P

I scared myself before my first track day at Oulton last month...

Had no reason to be scared though, drive within your own comfortable limits.

P.S. I only came off once, onto the grass, didn't hit anything!

Driven Marcos Mantis and Caterhams at Castle Combe ... It's an engaging track. Saw a young guy with his brand new Caterham decide to test the limits and spin off, wrecking the wing. No track insurance, so an expensive lesson.

Tapatalking...

as a rule of thumb i take every corner a gear lower then the limit, that way you know you wont be doing silly speeds but it can knacker the gear box/ engine

something wrong with the car ? yeah, a driver who had less talent than he thought ! very eye opening and scary, way too much speed and a very unbalanced car, he must have been as sick as a girraffe with a stiff neck !!

You don't have to brake using the gearbox or change gears at the red line. I wasn't pushing mine but still had tons of fun at Brands Hatch. All you need to remember that is not race.
