Track day ?

not sure if there are any forum ones but mine will be visiting oulton or Anglesey( or more likely both :D) this spring

I tend to do Oulton, Donington and sometimes Cadwell ones with the BMW Car Club or Bookatrack, and go to the 'Ring on the public days (obviously have a death wish).

Do 3-4 UK track days and 2 3-day 'Ring trips a year and try to keep the group size down to about 6 friends/cars (made up for a mix of 330ci, R33 GTR, Porsche GT3, Mini JCW and e34 M5s) to avoid parking/convoy/map reading issues.

oulton is a great circuit. lots of nice sweeping corners, undulations, and really easy to learn. even a banked hairpin.

a z4 specific track day would be a great idea if enough interest. maybe easier to hire a sprint circuit/hill climb tho.

I would like to do some track days this year...

What kind of costs are for tracks? And what's the time you actually get on the track?

Did the ring few years back in the m5.. That was good...as you pay and just go on..

My last Oulton day with BMW CC was about £150 for an open pitlane day in November, and I did over 200 miles that day.

The other costs you're looking at are for an oil change (£50) and petrol (£80-£100).

Insurance can be had for about £100 if you decide to go for it.

However, there are only the 'per day' costs, and you'll have to factor in the 'ongoing' costs of accelerated wear to. tyres, brake pads, brake discs, suspension, etc.

may be an Option.

Date is not confirmed Jet.
In june, there ist a big Z4 Event on the ring from the biggest BMW Z car community in Germany.

regards Ulli

200 miles? On track?

Understand the wear etc...

How much track time did you get?

It'll depend on the format of the day, but on an open pit lane day, you are free to go out as much as you want - the circuit will typically be open from about 9-5 with an hour for lunch. Driver fatigue and mechanical sympathy are your real limits to track time (and getting fuel if they don't have it on site).

totally agree with that. i found 20-30 min stints were about my limit at oulton in the westy before i felt a bit tired or ran out of fuel. roughly about 10L of fuel. never had a problem with long term mechanical issues such as brakes and tyres but its a light car and i did used to do a slower lap before coming in and once in leave the car with no handbrake on.

Is Oulton a smooth strack? Tarmac?

Was told Bedford autodrome is rough..and not very good for the car? I think concrete?
