I've read all the posts re TPMS lights staying on as I just bought my first Z4 on thursday, a beautiful 07 blue coupe which has had the Hamann treatment.
It's got new 19 inch Hamann alloys and the TPMS malfunction light would not go out even if I followed the check pressure and reinitialised following the handbook instructions to the letter. I checked the valve stems and they are made of rubber so I assumed the fault might be no sensors as the 07 coupe should run on those (according to the posts on the forum).
However I was driving around Friday and started to notice that it was pulling to the right a bit and the toe in felt wrong. I spent £40 and got the tracking checked at my local specialist. First thing they said was "don't know who set this up but it's miles out". Anyway they sorted the tracking.
I then held the reset button down (and kept it down) from first putting the key in to actually starting and then still held it down. After about 8 seconds the warning lights went out. I've now covered another 200 miles and not only is this coupe the sweetest handling thing I've driven, the lights have stayed out.
I can only assume the tracking was causing the TPMS fault and that some UK 07 coupes have the old monitoring system.
Anyway for persistent faults I'd reccomend;
a. Get the tracking checked and adjusted if needed, then
b. Check the pressures and adjust if needed, then
c. Just hold the button down forever when putting in the key and starting.
Worked for me so thought I'd share it.
