It's all relative. The Prius in NOT a motorway car and if you spend all your life on a motorway, then an efficient diesel is the way to go. However, if you spend your time in traffic and in a city, then the Prius comes into it's own.The Prius has to be driven in a specific manner to make it all work to the max, and speedy stuff kills it stone dead.If it is driven correctly, it is properly efficient, BUT, most people are not given sufficient instruction to get the best out of the thing. The new 1.8 model is even more complicated, very clever, but complicated, with 3 driving modes and all sorts, ideally needs an hour's proper lesson in how to drive it in order to get the economies it offers. If you drive in like a normal car, you're wasting your cash. :driving:

Nope, the Prius never comes into it's own. It's a marketing excercise and choice for the wannabee green brigade. If you learn about its actual impact on the environment from build through lifetime and onto disposal, it's much worse for the environment than any normal car. A big, giant con played out using media skill. Very clever.

Outrun, wrong my friend, almost everything on the Prius can be recycled, even the batteries are recycled cleverly, I only found that out recently. I was of the same opinion as you and many others until I saw some data on the new Prius model. Each to their own,I wouldn't want one, but there are plenty who do.
