Getting ready to start a roadtrip with my Dad. Unfortunately we don't have enough stuff together to leave today and I hate to do 95% of the roadtrip on saturday because there probably won't be too much open (at least I think) on Sunday. I can drive the 7 hours to Edinburgh but would rather not. *edit* I realize now looking at the times for most of the things we want to hit in Edinburgh that they are open on Sunday.

So my questions are these:
Is there a good touristy type of place to stop and spend the night on the way to Edinburgh from Newmarket?
Will the major tourist type things be open on Sunday? (see edit)

Oh and wanting to see/drive the Giants Causeway Stone Coastal Route, having a little trouble finding a good starting place/hotel. According to Master Google, it'll be 6 hours to get to Coastal route. I'd prefer to drive it fresh so any hotel idea's?
*edit think I found a place, maybe I just needed to type it out

Ok heres the plan,
Leave tommorow drive to York see some sights spend the night
Arrive Edinburgh around noon, visit castle & mary kings close then spend the night
Leave Edinburgh arrived Giants Causeway late afternoon, spend night
Drive Giants Causeway and take whatever tours we can find spend night
Drive home Wednesday (7ish hour drive)
Recover thursday an go to work Friday.

Thoughts? Suggestions? (especially for York area)

Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland? I think it's going to be a bit more than 6 hours to get there from Edinburgh - The ferry alone takes a couple of hours... :?

Thanks Spokey for mentioning that. For some reason (I blame UK & their credit/debit system) we couldn't reserve a ticket for the ferry's to cross over. So we didn't hit up Ireland (I wasn't going to drive that far on a hopefully we can on the boat thing). It worked out better because that made the rest of the trip more flexible. We went to York, north along the coastal route (not as impressive as California Pacific Coastal Highway :poke: ) into Edinburgh. Spent two days in Edinburgh, mostly just saw the castle.....which was phenomenal! I'm beat so ya'll will have to wait for pics and stuff.
