K Karlos123 Member Aug 2, 2019 #1 Hi All, Doing an oil change this weekend. My car is a 2008 2.0 (N46). Is the sump plug torque setting 24nm? I have done a search and see conflicting numbers, and I am paranoid I will cross thread it! Please help! Cheers Karl

A andyf1140 Member Aug 2, 2019 #2 The torque setting depends on the size of the thread M12 = 25nm M18 = 35nm M22 = 60nm Source https://workshop-manuals.com/bmw/z_series_e85/z4_2.0i_n46_roadst/4_tightening_torques/11__engine_(n46)/13__oil_sump/1_azd__oil_pan/

S Sail Member Aug 2, 2019 #3 As Andy has advised, if you have M12 x 1.5 thread on your oil sump plug, it will be 25Nm. I've worked on many BMW's myself, and from experience it's usually quoted as 23Nm give or take 2Nm. Hope this helps
