Hey Mods - genuine question: Why do all the threads about sat nav updates keep getting locked? I don't understand.

Normally because some one will link to a source for illegal software

So 3rd party maps for idrive are illegal then?

It’s not the map data, but the FSC code which is required to make it work - a bit like getting a MS Office disk and then using someone else’s key or a generated key.

I thought the key had to come from BMW. Obviously not. How does that work?

It would be pretty ironic if a thread asking why nav update threads get locked also ended up getting locked.
