Top down without parcel shelf?

My new to me 2005 Z4 needs some work. I took out the parcel shelf and supports and replaced the rear shocks. The top is also not working. I can see the parcel shelf switch has been bypassed. Is it ok to put the top down without the parcel shelf if the trunk is empty?

I need to work on the motor (relocation), so I don't want to put the supports and shelf back in to only have to remove them again...

Is it ok to put the top down without the parcel shelf if the trunk is empty?

My understanding is the shelf switch only exists to stop you dropping the roof into the shelf when it's raised, because the two things don't fit in the same physical space. I suspect you'd be totally fine dropping the roof without the shelf in place.
