Tire Pressure warning light after changing wheels?

Hi all,
The light came on after I put M parallel wheels on my car. It is a 2003 so I guess it has the FTM type. How can I fix the light or is there anyway to reprogram the module to learn the new wheel speed?

Old tires are 225/45/17 --> Diameter = 24.97 in
New front tires are 225/40/18 --> Diameter = 25.09 in
New rear tires are 255/35/18 --> Diameter = 25.03

you just hold down the button for a few seconds for the system to reset itself to the new wheels/tyres..

it may need a couple of presses, just done mine this morning as I have a collapsed valve in one wheel... :headbang:

:thumbsup:

I presume you do have the sensors in your new wheels.

If so just reset as above. Otherwise you will need to get sensors fitted.

Do they have sensors in the wheels??? I thought it worked out if you had a flat from wheel speed?? Wheel gets a flat losses pressure rolling radius reduces wheel speeds up light comes on??? I could be wrong its just what i think i have read on hear.

There are two types if systems; one with sensors in the tyre valves; and one which works in a similar way to the ABS system (rotational differences).

Easy way to tell is if you have metal valve stems - you have the sensor type.

ah, sorry, I didn't know about the sensors.... I thought they all just worked on the rotation

:oops: :oops: :oops: :oops:

Pressure sensors are more accurate than the wheel rotation method which needs quite a big difference in pressure between wheels on the same 'axle' to work. I guess this is why the wheel rotation method didn't get passed the US regulations. Typical, the cheaper system is ok for us Europeans.

Fixed that for you :) Alpinas, for example, have metal valve stems but work on the rotation system.

Thank you all :D
I have the rubber valve stems in my car. So I hold the tire pressure button for 5 seconds until the red light turned orange.Then that light turned off right when I backed up the car on the driveway.
