Tinkerings with wheels, what should I do?!

I currently have a recon set of 107 Ellipsoids on my car with good tyres, and a set of 108 Stars in need of a bit of a tidy up with tyres ready to change (or good for a quick track day)

I just keep looking at cars with the right offset staggered 19" CSL replicas and thinking they look fapping ace. However, I'd also want nice tyres, and maybe some 325mm front brakes so they don't look so small...

Has anyone else here gone from 18" to 19" on a non-M Z4 and regretted it?

Tyre costs and worries about even firmer ride/alloy damage is the thing putting me off the most. I think I could almost sell up and swap to 127 replica's with good tyres for maybe only a few hundred quid more than I'd get moving on all my old kit.

Hmmmm

I went from 108's to 19".. and imo the rider is less crashy then 18" runcraps... but does increase the road noise a little.

id have to agree with aquazi, much better ride quality on non runflat 19s, and imo they look a lot better but only if the car is lowered. I know a lot of people say the wheels make the car and although i think the 108s look great i reckon there are some even better looking wheels out there.

I just went from 18s to 19s (Z4MC), I hardly notice the difference to be honest.

CSLs are quite 'busy' wheels, not sure you'd notice your brake calipers that much?

I went from 18's 108's to 19's BBS LM's never noticed a difference although the 19's trump the 18's

Im getting my 19" CSL's tommorrow for my Z4C Sport. Ill put some pics up as soon as the tyres arrive. Thinking of lowering it too.

Oooo, will be interesting to see it un-lowered on the CSL's...

My 3.0i seems to sit relatively low anyway, I'd not want the car lower personally anyway.

When you take the pics, take a few from 'normal' height, so we can get a gauge on how it looks from normal head height, rather than low-down views that kinda don't matter as much for gauging height :D

Cheers

Dave

Yo Willow,

Did you get the CSL's fitted? Any chance of some pictures of the car with the wheels on before it's lowered?

Thanks

Dave
