timing of a sale

Hi,

I might be made redundant come March, so I'm going through my finances working out where we can tighten our belts. We're a two car household and I think we could live fairly easily with one, until i find a new job.

I have a BMW AUC Z4, which I bought (I think) in April last year. It's saying 3000 until the next service which is an oil inspection I think.

So, if I choose to sell it, would it make a noticable difference to sell it while still under BMW warranty (albeit a small amount left), so the next person can at least choose to extend it, and also sell before the next service to save some money. Or doesn't it make much difference?

also I'm guessing go for a private sale, as BMW will give me peanuts? I usually trade in through them as I'm buying AUC, but this time would be not replacing it (yet).

Hi,

Sorry to hear your being made redundant. We have similar things happening here. Touch wood, hoping to be ok :/

More beneficial than not, with the Warranty :)

sorry to hear about your situation buddy, hope it gets sorted - as for the warranty, i certainly would be more reassured if it had AUC warranty definatley a good selling point

If it's only an oil service, then book it in for one and get it done before the sale. Buyers tend not to like having to pay out even the smallest amount so soon after buying something.

If you're looking for an idea of how much you can get for it in a quick sale, then try one of the car buying services WeBuyAnyCar, WeWillBuyYourCar, etc. for a really low price. If those prices are in the ballpark for what you want/need for it, then advertise it for a couple of grand more privately and see how it goes, as you've always got the back-up of going back to one of them if it gets desperate.
