ok guys from experience, how long did it take from your car going into production until the date is was available for collection from the dealers..... for anyone who was itching to get hold of theirs lol

just curious as the dealer told me on friday that mine had gone into production
 
Mine went into production beginning of week 12 and was delivered to the dealership around 2 weeks later. I will be taking collection on Thursday all being well which will be just over a week since the dealership received it but I have had the semi intergrated nav installed which takes around half a day I beleive.

So your looking at approx 3 to 4 weeks from commencement of production I would say :thumbsup:

Mine was built 19/3 and completed on 21/3 and released to carrier, was on its way to the docks on 27/3. Last call I had it might be at the dealers either 18 or 20 April. So if thats correct its taken a month :( Not 100% happy its taking so long from build completion date. I was expecting 2 weeks to get to the dealer. Dealer did say BMW have a backlog of new cars to process :|

looks like it will be touch and go as to whether i get it at the end of this month. i guess i will re-visit it at the end of the month and decide whether its worth cancelling my order as i was told it would be delivered this month when i placed my order

You'd cancel an order for the car because its a bit late on delivery? You can't want the car that much?

Unfortunately not. Just got tomorrow afternoon off to pick it up :D Back at work again on Friday but then at least its the weekend and ill be able to give it its first wash and show it some loving :wink:

I cant wait to see it either. Im just hoping that the interior looks classy with the white paintwork and aluminium trim. :)

It will, walnut is fab.
 
lol yeah i would cancel if it was late..... but im just weighing it up. the whole point of me placing the order was because the dealer said "i would have it in april" at the end of the day i've not signed anything, not had anything in writing and paid the deposit by credit card, so if i wanted to, i could cancel at anytime and just pay cash for a used 35i instead or possibly an older 3.0si

when I ordered my car, I had to sign a new car order form, so is yours ordered for you, or one they were ordering anyway?
 
mine is ordered for me and to my spec.... maybe they had a slot allocated to them already. but i have had to sign nothing and all ive had through the post is that my personal bmw finance has been accepted. a few confirmation emails of my spec and obviously the cc deposit which was taken on the 7th of march
 
I definately had a new car order, but thinking about it, I'm not actually sure if I did sign anything. I know it goes very quiet after you place the order.

My car was in the country for well over a week before it got onto a trailer for my dealer - they kept telling me it had to be by the end of March or I'd miss the offer - I said people on here were getting the offer with delivery later than March and he said that if it was possible it had to be done in March - at the end of the day, the delay was BMW not me, so if they'd refused the offer, the fan would've got clogged!

Although it was tight, and although the delivery date kept slipping, they managed to get it done in time, so I'm sure yours will be done.

I'd ring your dealer, he should be able to give you an estimated delivery date from his system. That date can change, but it is an indication. the only definate time can be given when the car is on the transporter!
 
...and if you would seriously consider cancelling if its not in april, then perhaps set yourself a limit - i.e. if its a couple days late would you cancel, or only if it looks like dragging on? Would it be worth telling them about this as it might gee them on a bit...cos somewhere up the chain they must be able to pull strings?
 
yeah i have emailed the dealer a couple of times to get an eta on delivery but he seems to be dodging the question or not being straight with me. but yeah if it was a few days over, i probably wouldnt cancel but my fear is it being continuously put back in which case i would be missing out on valuable summer days.... we dont get a great many to begin with

im going to leave it another week and then give them a heads up of where i stand on it :thumbsup:
 
I'm surprised you didn't sign a new vehicle contract, every new car I've ever ordered I signed one along with the salesman.

Sounds odd to me.

yeah im suprised i didnt sign anything either but i guess since the dealership is in glasgow and im in derby, it wasnt straight forward as everything was done over the phone rather than face to face
