Just wondering if everyone has changed to summer tyres now? I have winter tyres on my other car and want to change to summer tyres but wonder if I do will I be really unlucky and we get soime freak weather and snow? It is possible at this time of year still, or do you think I am being paranoid and need to change?

iirc you should be off the Winter tyres when the average temp rises above 7c which it did about a month ago.

Not quite a month ago as every time I go out in the morning it is just above or at freezing. Later in the day is warmer now.

I will be changing the X5 wheels this weekend to summers though as I will be taking it to Germany in a couple of weeks for a visit.

X2...I changed just over 2 weeks ago.

I would expect so - mine went a little while back, for the London meet, didn't want to be pressing on with the wrong rubber at the time / temp we'd be out. You'll see what the temp is when / where you're driving. It is a bit of a balancing act, as PVR said, a lot of mornings are still quite cold but warmer later.

Would be surprised if we had any freak weather now. I'm hoping.

I changed back in the week, onto 4 brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (non-runflat)

Now you'll have to live with the neck cramps that will come from the extra G force those F1's will generate...

Neck cramps from more G's..........please explain....... :?

Got to ask guys, which tyres do people use for winter?
I was thinking of getting a set of cheap alloys and winter tyres and sticking them in the garage till the next ice age (October, probably) :x

Had a quick look on tinternet, but not really sure what to go for, I have graduated to the Z from a 4x4, with ATs that showed the snow no mercy

From trying to hold his head straight...just kidding with this post, nothing serious to read from it :P

Changed mine this week aswell. I think from 1st November to around the end of the following March for winter tyres.
Steve853. I use the Dunlops on mine but I suspect there are better out there. I needed another set of rims because the winter spec tyres are not staggered. BMW recommend 225/45x17 alround for the 3.0 Si. Not sure about the rest of the range though.N

Am still using mine and they're lasting forever, even the rears. Have let some pressure out of them which has helped the traction, because using 225 rears the traction control was coming on in the dry with warmer temps, even at higher motorway speeds in sixth gear such as when squiring on the power to overtake on a slightly bumpy surface. I am probably going to leave them on for now as the rears are only a mm or two away from the winter wear bars I think although need to check them, so might as well burn them up if not worth putting them back on later in the year :).
