Time to change brakes?

How long would it roughly take a mechanic to change the front pads and also the rear pads and discs?

Front pads, max 30 mins each side I reckon, with an hour and a half to do the rears in total. My front discs look shot, the pads look fine and rear discs and pads look hardly worn. Seems an odd combination to me, how long have yours lasted?

Sounds spot on to me

BTW, changing the pads and discs really is a straight forward job, with only basic mechanical skills needed, especially for the pad changing part.

I timed myself at 100 minutes for all four discs and pads. That was on the floor jacking 2 a time using a trolley jack and I'm an IT software consultant, not a mechanic!! Rears should be exactly same as fronts as inboard drum handbrakes don't require caliper windback. I didn't touch the drum shoes though.

Discs take around 5 mins per side extra, absolute tops, just FYI. :)

I'd never done the rears before, hence not wanting to do them myself and get confused and make the handbrake not so good for the imminent MOT :D

But from the sounds of things they are really easy just as per the fronts :)

Rears are easy, just a PITA trying to get the handbrake set up again, you have to flick a star wheel round through one of the wheel bolt holes, certainly no more than 1 to 1 1/2 hours for the whole job.
