Time for a new Z, or upgrade my Z? advice on ideas please

Ive just turned 23, ive owned my grey 2.5 100,000 miler for 2 years now and i feel as though its time for change.
After spending months on autotrader ive come to the conclusion that the only cars around the £10k mark
are the E46 and the Z4mc

i took my friends E46 out for a drive last week, although the power was lovely the car felt big, not as much of
vicious animal as id expected, i honestly had more fun with my top down on the way there.

so that left me with the Z4mc, abit more at about £12k but alot of car for the money, so i went for a drive into
town and parked next to a Z4mc, and no offence to M owners but the M didnt stand as proud as the aerokit,
so that made me realise im going to have to go through a similar modification process again :headbang:

so do i send about £14k just to have a faster car, or do i spend a third of that making my Z into the Z ive dreamed of?
the car is as much of a part of the family as the dogs are! so doing this to her would make me proud.

what i would need is:
1. hardtop roof
2. white paint job/wrap
3.big juicy brakes
4. exhaust system (not quad system)
5. front lights and side repeaters
6.'fake' carbon bmw bages all round
7. instillation of my monaco pro seats

this on top of:
1. aerokit
2. bilstein sport shocks
3. eibach pro springs
4. 18" 225 alloys

this would make my ideal Z minus the engine for a fraction of the cost, where i need your help is if any of you have had any common bad points from the list above.
ive priced alot online and localy but it always helps to ask the forum!

living with a wraped car on a daily basis?
realistic price for a spray inc. roof?
bad experice with certain brakes?
exhaust notes, is it just worth a d-cat?

this is my car, and below is a picture for you to visualise the idea, granted it wont be an M with 19" but i think its amazing with the hardtop

carwash at my mates garage

I'd say go find a nice ///MC or ///MR and just budget for doing aero skirts (£600ish) and suspension over time when they are needed or when you can afford it. That way you get a later car, more power, lower mileage etc

Personally I think blowing another 3-7k is just nuts :crazydude: It's on 100k now. You will just blow a load of time and money then end up wanting a better model anyway. Ps fwiw your car looks good as it is!

Just what he said

I'd go for an M. But good luck finding a decent MC for £14k. Better to grab a well spec'd roadster

Don't spend £7k on a car with 100,000 miles

You can change the engine as long as the rest of the car is fine ( and i guess is fine since with 7k you can upgrade a lot )

It's more about economic good sense. There's nothing at all wrong with a zed on 100k, I wouldn't suggest there was.

However, selling your existing zed, and putting another £7k down could give you an M roadster, which you've indicated would be a good result

Take all the bits off yours and buy a 3.0. Then mod that puppy up.!!! More power and a cracking looking car once you've finished.!!

Exactly what I was going to say, pick up a standard low mile 3.0 and transfer all the bits over

thanks everyone, after taking all your comments on board, i have a few tricks up my sleave.

my brother is a mechanic, and my best friend owns a garage, so labor and cars arnt expensive.

im looking at about £12k for a black z4mc, old but very low millage.

as for the car modification, were about to get a plastic dip kit at the garage which im seriously considering!
because a wrap is about £600-£700, a paint job is about £1500.

rough cost for my car mods on the cheap'
£100 exhaust
£100 seat mounts
£150 steering wheel and boss
£800 hardtop
£60 white and plastic plastic dip paint

so this would get the basic shape of my car and allow me to re-spray my wheels and grils fresh black for about £1500, also the option of spraying my calipers black and disguising them instead of buying new.

ive thought about the 3ltr option but not worth it in my mind, ive replaced alot structurally to the car so not worth selling, changing the engine in 5-10years time is not something im afraid of.
