Tie rod assembly

Hi,
I am looking to DIY the replacement of both tie rod assemblies on my e85. I am hoping to get the ball joint on the outer tie rod out first so that I can match up the length to the new one.

Would that be possible without playing with the adjuster?

I’d say so. You’ll probably have a hell of a job getting it free. Unless you have one of those tools for the job.

Have you looked at the videos of the e46 platform? 50s kid or the like? Useful info as lots of similarities on the e46 / e85 platform

Very easy to remove the tie rods.

Not when the inner is stuck on and you're on your back with limited leverage.

Also all the online guides mention a 32mm spanner but mine were 34mm, so assume they'd been replaced at some point.
