Three Mobile views

Hey all

My mobile contract expires soon and I am set to order the lovely new Galaxy S4. It seems that Three are coming out cheapest.

Does anyone in here have any recent experiences of this network and what is the general view on customer service?

I've been with 3 for 18 months never had a problem with signal or connectivity. The only issue I have is they ring every couple of months trying to get you to take out extra contracts for friends and family. I tell them every time I'm not interested but they always call again.
 
Had a Three MiFi for a while, Three was the only network with coverage in the location where I need to use it.

Never rung customer services but the network speed and reliability seems pretty good.
 
I LOVE the Three network.

By an absolute mile the best 3G network in the uk.

As an example, I can drive from our house near Melton Mowbray all the way to Newquay listening to web radio. typically it will only pause once or twice on the trip - and we do that trip A LOT.

Totally incredible.

When we're in Cornwall we don't bother having broadband as we use the tethering on our iPhones to stream I player to our apple TV - great quality as we seem to average about 3 to 4mbps throughput.

Scotland is a bit patchy but if you want a decent mobile Internet connection, three is the only network to have.

(I can give chapter and verse on why this is the case technically too, but that's just saaad).

And no, I don't work for any mobile company or provider, I'm just a network engineer so understand something decent when I see it.
 
All sounds positive. I was on Three going back when they first came on the scene (not bad back then but coverage not brilliant and CS a bit vanilla). It seems that I live in a microscopic area of Cardiff that is limited network for ALL networks (literally my street oddly).

Phone ordered :thumbsup: Anyway ------------ back to waxing..............
 
An alternative view....

Our fellow forum member "Blue" and my mate both had a nightmare with 3. The network had issues with keeping calls going. Kept cutting off mid call.

On the plus side, they are cheap. And you can always reconnect a call

Been with 3 since I swapped from T-Mobile about 18 months ago, when they decided to start charging extra for tethering. Initially bought a standalone 3G USB stick and then swapped the T-Mobile phone & stick for a 3 iPhone 4S instead for about £10/month less.

Glad I was forced into it, as I ended up with a much better deal from 3 in the end too - with proper unlimited tethering which I use almost all the time to connect my iMac to the internet when I'm not at home.

Not had any 'warnings' on data use despite using 20-30gb/month (use it for email, surfing, sharepoint, etc.).

Not had any sales calls from them either.
 
No personal experience but a friend used to have a "3" data dongle for about £15 a month for a limited amount of data, and a mobile on another network for about £20 a month.

They ditched both and got a mobile from "3" so now tether the 3G from the phone to the laptop with unlimited data. They dont have home broadband and get about 3MB this way. Admittedly, they are only light users, but this shows how it can work.
