Hi everyone. Happy to be part of this group. 2016 Z4 idrive28i. Just purchased yesterday in mineral grey with nav package, sport package and luxury package. Do they all come standard with the three buttons for programming garage door. My car has none. Is this odd? Was the mirror perhaps replaced at some point? Thank you in advance! Chris.

I think it was an option.

I have seen it on more US BMWs than UK.

Thanks Deepsea. Maybe part of a technology package. My car also doesn’t have the bluetooth audio connection strictly telephone for bluetooth (which is a bit of a disappointment  ) and also doesn’t have folding mirrors or curb adjusting mirrors for parking. I guess I will survive! .

Welcome to the forum Chris.

I hope you find a solution - I'd be happy just to have an electric garage door!

Me too, but being on benefits and living in a high-rise Council flat, may be asking too much?

I have them on my X6, its called universal remote control.

Does it work on a UK door though as it has roaming codes rather than the US standard of fixed ones?

It works on our garage door, even though I cant fit the X6 in it.
It was a bit of a job to program it and didnt seem to program exactly like described in the owners manual, but once programmed its been fine for over 6 years now.

Depends on the door as well - my Hormann door use a "BiSecure" key that means the cheap ones won't work and I doubt the BMW would either.

If you have CarPlay you can use that to open the garage instead (or Siri)

How do you use CarPlay to open the garage door?

You can fit a WiFi remote to open the garage door - it connects to the bellpush - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Control-Existing-Compatible-Assistant-SmartThings/dp/B086MLFRJ3

When you can control it using Apple HomeKit, you can do it with CarPlay, too

We manufacture devices for gate and garage control, bit more advanced then the Chinese ones from Amazon but you get the idea.

I fitted a cellular device to my electric gates, i just phone the gate using the steering wheel control

One of the properties I visit has this feature.
All it needs is your phone number to be on the approved list and it will open when called.

My garage is linked with the house alarm - so Mrs K gets out, opens the house, turns off the alarm, I press the door fob and drive in!

Normally tho, I much prefer to leave the car outside for at least an hour or more to allow the Catalytic Convertor cool down.
