Thoughts on tuning automatic cars?

I know it's a bunch of mixed results but I'm curious what you guys think? Because sad news, I might be trading in the z4 maybe by the end of the year. and I might just get a 2003 350z Nissan, I want to get a manual but all of the people I know are highly tuned including my friends supercharged 350z so none of them would trust me "learning" to drive a manual in their pride and joys  so I might just get an automatic 350z but I would love to get that extra umph! But many people talk trash about not driving a Manuel in the first place and on top of that tuned automatic cars. So what is the big deal about people that tune automatic cars?

No big deal, as long as the mechanicals can cope.

My Golf Edition 30 had a DSG gearbox and was tuned to a little over 300hp from the stock 230. It was absolutely fine.

I have often wondered if an autobox would be ok with a turbo or charger

my old XKR was a supercharged auto - it was tuned and had some work on it.

My current RS6 has 2 turbos and the autobox is fine - again the car is tuned and the gearbox has been remapped too.

Can't you just practice manual in a cheap beater?

350z vs 3.0 Z4 - I chose the Z4.

Depends on the auto.

In the states a lot of the auto's are CVT transmission... Not sure they would cope with the extra torque... They prob be stuck in the lower gears forever

It's like every car I could drive or learn in is an auto I swear :x and ya I'd love another z4 but it's just got to many problems, plus I'd imagine a Nissan would be much easier to maintain  and almost as much fun as a z4 :driving:
