Thoughts on a 2.5

It really does depend on what you want out of your car. I have an early 2.5i (189hp) and it's quite enough for me, thanks very much. Nice solid dependable engine too. But speed is not really my thing. I love the response and handling as it is, and the "Sport" button takes it to another level if I'm feeling adventurous.

Of course the fact that there's a significant difference between the road tax on a 2.5 and a 3.0 in the strange country in which I reside gives the smaller engine an edge too.

No 3.0 envy here ... but that's just me ...

How come you are getting rid of the TTS?

Its a white one isnt it.

Selling the TTS to save for a house unfortunately. Devastated to do so - I love my car but I live in a rented flat at the moment and we just don't have enough space! The Z4 is about the only car that seems like a worthy replacement really. How did you know it was white?!

I would definitely recommend the TTS, it's a very different car to the Z4, the big turbo gives a massive punch of torque from around 2500 rpm but then it drops off after around 6000, very different to an NA engine. The four wheel drive also gives it a tonne of grip through the corners, you can boot it half way through a corner and the car will just dig in and shoot you round the corner. Again, very different to the RWD Z4, some would say less exciting as there's no 'back out' fun but I would describe it as fun in a different way. One big advantage it has over the Z4 is its practicality - you can just about squeeze a small person in the back (I call it an emergency seat and only one can be used because there's no space behind me! So it's a 3 person car at a push) but the main advantage is with the seats folded you can fit a bike, a few snowboards or plenty of luggage in the boot. I'm referring to the coupe of course - the roadster isn't any more practical than the Z4 roadster.

The TTS was the car I fell in love with and worked hard to achieve, it's a shame I need to sell but sometimes you need to sort out your priorities! From what I've read the Z4 won't disappoint though so I'm looking forward to the change rather than dreading it (although I'll still be sorry to see it go). My wife isn't happy about it either, she wants a house but loves the TTS and doesn't want me to sell it!
