Thought I would post on here to let you guys know of some developments at Thorney MS.

Taken from MTorque:

A whole new page due to be up on the site soon.

Stage 1 and 2 power gains with ECU remaps and full race Milltek exhausts

KW V1 and V3 suspesnion set ups with track or race geometry set up. KW Clubsprot in development

AP Racing brake upgrades (say no more)

Even a cage and harness bar options being released.

We've been enjoying this car, looks to be quite a classis once its fettled a bit.

it's about time someone does proper software for our cars :driving:
any numbers on the expected gains?

I saw a thread elsewhere - forget where now, but power output from the development TMS Z4M with remap and full Milltek (100-cell race cats, mid-pipe and rear box) came to 360bhp (from a standard output on the same car, same rollers, of 330bhp). Not bad I though, 30bhp gain, and torque was up a similar amount of lb/ft-age....

I happened to speak to a KW dealer yesterday too about the V3s and Clubsports - V3s are £1050 (inc VAT and delivery), and Clubsports are £1120.

A half-cage would be good and I definately could be interested in something like that, depending on how it works around the interior trim. I got a harness bar made up for my new seats and harnesses which cost me about £200 (if anyone else was interested, I could pass the details on) and it fits in using existing mounting points and is completely removable. I guess a cage would require some removal of the plastic trim behind the seats?

I have one or two, but I was hoping I'd have had the photos from the photographer that did my shoot by now - as they'll show them much better, but he hasn't emailed them over to me yet.

I'll take some today and post them up a bit later, as the ones I've taken so far don't show the install too well...

Here ya go... :)

The harness bar is yet to be finished (and once done will be available to any one else that is interested in one). I'm debating whether to get it powder coated, or trimmed in leather (when the Recaro's go to get trimmed).

Also, the Schroth harnesses I'm using are not ideal, and will be likely replaced with 4-points in the near future (just trying to find out if I can get them in white also.... ;))

Looks the business, I'd probably go with leather tbh. How are you going to cover the pillar where it's attached?

They are getting retrimmed in leather (in the same black nappa leather as the original seats), and I'm having BMW heating elements laid back in the foam of the seat so I can keep my heated seats :D

They do still slide (well, actually only the drivers one at the moment, as i've not fitted the slider kit to the passenger one yet). Like I say, they're not finished yet, nor is the harness bar - but i figured I'd show you some pics as people were interested. I'm unsure how to finish the harness bar,as I said above. I may also modify the original B-pillar trim piece to see if I can re-attach it over the bar ends.

Is Thorney any good, are they recognised as serious tuners by those in the know or are they convinced by their own marketing hype? The web-site reads a bit arrogant and leaves me as an engineer with more questions than answers.

On the other hand who are the top people to trust with a Z4M engine, intake, exhaust, suspension and brakes? Any why don't BMW meet this need with properly designed, developed and race proven engineering?

Judging by the way they dealt with my enquiries re brakes and exhaust upgrades, the answer is a definite no.
