This strut has seen better days!

Well, it was an amusing but dangerous morning replacing the front strut. The previous owner had decided just to replace one, probably wanting to retain some form of originality perhaps? So left me to risk life and limb with the help of some Temu spring compressors to replace it. Discovered two double-prong spring compressors, although they look good, are almost useless. Luckily my Caterham-owning neighbour had a pair to lend me, surprisingly they didn't break. As you can see from the picture, the strut lacks a bit of rebound and the bump stop looks like it has been attacked by moths. No chance of listing them on eBay. New strut with everything replaced now fitted just have to bolt everything down. Lost a top mounting nut somewhere in the engine bay but will look for it later.

Yup, that looks about standard. Give the rubber dust cover a good massage with some gummi pfledge and it'll come up like new. Or use autoglym bumper and trim gel.
