Third Break Light Broken :(

Not even sure how long it's been cracked :( From what I've read, I see that it's a common problem among Z4s. I'm thinking that maybe that when installed it's screwed in too tight and it puts pressure on the edges but I honestly have no idea, could be just a cheap part. Anyone happen to have the part#? Want to fix this asap.

It has been a problem for some time,mine did the same thing and the stealer replaced it no charge :driving:
 
Happened to mine too, but I was able to find the chipped piece and super-glue it back on. My car is out of warranty, so I don't think the dealer will cover it.
 
they should..it's worth a try,after all there is a service bulletin on it.....................and if they don't............just kill everyone of them,burn the dealership to the ground,salt the earth for 20 miles around it,and go to the next dealership,you will find them a bit more responsive to your request :driving:
 
its an easy enough fix-it yourself thing. Just need a deep 8mm socket to reach the 3 nuts. I replaced mine within minutes.
 
I took the car in today for a tune-up and they're saying that to fix the third breaklight it's going to cost $113.00. :(
 
Well I have an extended protection plan but I'm sure Lenses aren't covered. Figured since there was a Service Bulletin that maybe they would cover it.
 
LeatherZ.com has the clear third brake light for $60.00 I am sure you can twist a couple of 8 mm nuts for the diff. That's if you are out of warranty and they won't cover under the service bulletin.

I replaced my third brake light and with in 2 weeks, it was broke again. The springs that come from the factory are too strong. I glued the piece back on and then did not tighten the screws. I only snugged them up.
 
I ordered the current non-strong springs when I replaced mine - even though mine was supposed built after the problem had been rectified. The springs I took out were definately stronger than the new ones though :?

Easy enough to fit yourself though :D
