I really enjoy f1 for its technical aspect and the speed. The nosie of the new cars really doesn't bother me but damn I do love that noise.

Went to the Spanish GP in 2013 when they ran the 2.4-litre V8s and also went the following year when they were the 1.6 litre V6's. In 2013 the noise was deafening and completely tingling (if you experienced it, you know what I mean). You got goosebumps just listening to it. We were sat at the end of the S/F straight and you could hear the cars coming down the straight, past you and all the way round turns 3 and 4. ALL the kids had ear defenders and after the race your ears were absolutely buzzing. Such a fantastic experience. In 2014 however it was compleetly different NO kids had ear defenders on and you could speak to the person sat next to you. You could only really hear the cars when they were in front of you and when they were round the first bend. I thought it was quite disappointing. F1 shouldnt be about saving fuel, electric hybrid units and quiet engines - it should be V12s, V10s and 3.5 litres of ear deafening roar. While I'm on it they should scrap the blue flags too. If you are faster than the car in front - get past. End of. You shouldn't need help from a flag. Just my tuppence worth.

Same here. I once had a trike with a flat six and straight through pipes, I loved it. Is F1 about noise? Nope, its about winning.

I've been to Silverstone when they were running the V8s and you're right, they were SO loud!

It's ironic because the cars use less fuel now, but they still haul them about on Bernie's fleet of 747s every week. It doesn't make any logical sense, other than it has discouraged a lot of fans.

There faster than the last gen v8s actually and are just off all time highs of downforce. If they had the 2004 spec tyres all the engineers say the lap records from 2004/5 would be beaten.

It's a real tough balance. I too was brought up at the likes of Silverstone and Brands Hatch with the scream of F1 engines. Feeling it rather than hearing it.

It however has to be relevant to today's world, so I have no real issue with hybrids and all that stuff. However 'winning' is not all it's about and if the cars don't entertain, regs. are contrived, tyres don't allow racing and drivers manage fuel from the off, then the entertainment dies as does the sport (which it currently is).

I watched every F1 race from start of 1980 season either live or full length recording up to half way through 2015 season. I was so disappointed with the racing/look/noise I watched 1 hour highlights for the remainder of the year. F1 is a faint shadow of what it once was. The cars are butt ugly, sound terrible and provide lacklustre racing which is very contrived what with flappy wings and electric boost etc. It is not a pure form of racing anymore.

exactly, with all the regulations in place they're still slower irregardless ... :thumbsdown:
