ocean bmw plymouth phoned me today to see if i needed to book an mot test as my car has been there before, i didnt but asked them to quote for an inspection 2 on a z4m coupe. wait for it, 358-00 quid ! i said are you sure ? yes she said, but the oil is a 100, the plugs are a 100, you do valve shims, change g.box oil , dif oil filters, strip and clean brakes etc etc, are you really sure?, anyway, off she went to check, so I asked her to email me confirmation, and also exactly what is included. will keep you posted :?

they phoned back today, saying 1150 but that is only an estimate !!! and that it can vary depending on the age of the car , Bollocks if they think i will book it in with an open cheque book, they really are havin a laugh. they are emailing me the whole breakdown of whats included, we'll see , but i know wher i will not be going just because they have proved to me already that they dont know their arse from their elbow !!!

Isn't the maximum it should be £899 as the value servicing is available as per the E46 M3.

Fairly certain below £800 is possible and maybe even below £700 from a main dealer with a bit of negotiation.

Keep this updated as i will be interested as my service counter has 5.5k miles until my Ins II is due.

ETA i looked on Main dealer discount and its quoting £792 within 10 miles of my home (Enfield).

Ocean is just down the road from me, they are farking expensive!

£66 for half an hour labour! Quoted me worst case scenario of 1hrs labour, £112, to go through the personal options on my keys and set it up.

Mad4slalom - your M is not blue by any chance?

They have never let me have the fixed E46 M3 price, although I have only ever rung up for prices.

I rang up a few dealers today to get a price for an oil change. Park lane in London £249, with Synter Romford the cheapest at £217.

I too saw the main dealer discount at Enfield, but seems a few mixed reviews of that dealership. Hard to know what to make of it all really. It's a minefield!

That's no more expensive than most of the dealerships, and some charge 50% more than that!

Although if £66 is for half an hour, then surely it would be £132 for a full hour - or are they offering a discount for taking the full hour :P

I use the dealer for my servicing & warranty repairs (only if you've got a warranty of course) and my specialist (Darjac in Halstead, Essex) for everything else. The only issue is that you need something 'awkward' doing the dealer has a fixed price to do the job, whereas the specialist might give you an estimate but then find it's taken twice as long as expected (due to the items being seized) and will charge accordingly. So you may/may not end up spending the same amount.

No idea, but that's the price they have given me. She did say it would take an hour if it didnt go to plan so aybe there's a discount on that if they can sort it all out on the first attempt.

Mad4slalom - No I don't think its you I have seen. This is proper blue. I live in Plymouth, not too far from Plymouth Ocean.

think I will book in with paddock motors near exeter , I will talk to the owner first and tell him that I am a member on here and would he mind if i posted a review of their service on the forum as it is a huge concern where to take our cars for inspection 2 and could well lead to many customers if the service is well carried out with confirmation that correct fluids and oils are used . things that concern me are that when a car of this caliber is entrusted to a garage you want peace of mind that it wont be given to un unsupervised apprentice as a learning curve , i want my car worked on by someone with passion for the marque, not someone rushing to get out at 5to 5 . is this too much to ask
