Didn't everybody know who he was anyway? It didn't take me long on the internet to find out a year or so ago.
He has been busy anyway, saw him on the BTCC last weekend. I also just got his book for my birthday so will see what that is like when I sit on a beach next week.

As Ben hinted at, the BTCC at the weekend:

Plato: qualified 1st @ 48.647s
Race results: 1st, 1st and a 9th place (oh, and an overall BTCC championship)

Ben Collins: didn't qualify but guest driver
Race results: 14th, 12th and a DNF
 
I was at the BTCC and saw Ben/stig both racing (unfortunate to have gearbox problems with his car, they swapped out the sequential box to a dog box at the last minute!) and when he was doing his book signing and I don't get what is with all the hostility, seems like a nice bloke to me and obviously a massive petrolhead like the rest of us. Can only put it down to jealousy :thumbsdown:

Not jealous in my case - just stating the facts. Even allowing for Plato being more familiar with his car, the results speak for themselves...

Actually FWIW, I DO think he's a bit of a t**t the way he "came out" so I do have feelings about it, but certainly not stemmed from jealousy.

Can't really compare Plato and Collins re the BTCC. Plato's had the car all year and has it just how he wants it, Collins hasn't. Be great if he is in the series next year, then we'll get an idea about his talents

Just for the record, I am Jealous...! Would love to be in his situation. Would possibly have handled it a bit better but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I'm looking forward to reading the book and seeing what he has to offer in the future...

That's a superb career decision.... :D
 
So what do we think Top Gear are going to do now...? I will be interested to see if they have another Stig or try something new..
 
i think ben collins is a bit of a sell out to be honest. had the best job in the world but wasnt happy as he probably wanted some celebrity status rather than hidden behind the white suit.

If anybody is still watching this...
I just read Ben Collins book. A fantastic read, I couldn't put it down.
Great to see how they filmed the Top Gear races etc. He had to go in the end, I understand that he needs to start winning in his own name again.

Great Christmas gift!
