for years and years my RPI has gotten on my nerves now, i love the built quality, the design and the lightweight benefits it offers, but the drone, omg, the drone literally would give me a headache on a long journey. I then added my large bore s-pipe with 100 cell race cats and..... honestly it sounds absolutely like a straight pipe... Cue finally i decided to get rid of my beloved RPI.... THEN.... along comes a solution. RPI have released some bolt in silencers, reports say they cut drone massively and really give a much quieter setup, installing them was slightly butt clenching but.. it went really well. Basically it forces gasses out the smaller tailpipe and restricts the larger tailpipe down, Pretty much how the GTRs and such do things on quiet tracks, ETC, this will be great on long journeys and MOT days and finally when the wifey is in the car.
Alot easier than first through. i used an 8mm cobalt drill bit to get through the T304, took it nice and slow slow, marked with a punch and hammer, all went very well, only slightly had the drill walk which resulted in a tiny inset difference each side, but its pretty much perfect. i Had to loose the crush washer and only use the flat washer as i couldnt get the bolt to thread.
The actually drilling was pretty easy and this is definitely ok and easy on the car, be careful as the shards that come off are red hot, the cobalt drill piece showed signs of wear after this tiny amount of drilling, so if using a normal drill piece, take it SLOW.
As ian mentioned above mine were a single pressed piece that look good quality, nice tight fit in the tail pipe. i haven't had chance to start/drive the car but will do so tomorrow as i did this on my lunch break
they are pretty much unnoticeable installed, ill leave an allen key in the trunk so can install and remove as i please. Hoping for significant difference as reported!! ill get pics up later.
GREAT idea RPI.
