The Nurburgring Track Insurance

I have heard a rumour that it is now compulsory to have track insurance on The Nurburgring. Can someone please shed some light on the subject?!

Thanks!

Haven't heard that to be the case.. I'm dying to get my brakes on & go before Winter.. you planning a trip? 8)

You've always had to have 'basic' cover to drive the 'Ring on a public day as it's a public toll road where the German road traffic laws apply.

Most UK policies provide 'basic' 3rd party cover for driving in the EU, but some policy T&Cs allow them to attempt to recover their costs if the policyholder causes an accident on the 'Ring.

If you do a track day then it's up to you and the other attendees to cover their own liabilities.

Yeah we are going next week, I just want to make sure I am fully prepared! x

When are you folks going to the track? I plan on going this Tuesday. Looks like the weekday open times next week are in the afternoon only.

Hey Jerry, we are heading there Friday and driving over the weekend, will you still be around? x

I hadn't planed on going over the weekend as the track can get busy. Although it would be very nice to meet some of the forum members and chat over a beer and a bratwurst.
I live two hours from Nurburg. So I have the luxury of being close enough to go on a whim. :D

I'll send a courtesy PM before Friday.

Cheers
Jerry
