Wow - that is a huge difference... Are you going to get some spacers ?
 
Nah, they are ugly wheels anyway (SE model ones).

Not bad price really, got them new from eBay, sold the summer tyres which were on them and bought the Vredestein ones. Total cost less than £600.
 
Well, it's definitely not going to fail an MOT with them on... Unless they create a hazard for small children on pavements because of the suction created in the gaps :lol:
 
Sensible choice, more people should do this then our roads would less likely to get clogged up with abandoned cars when we get 2 inches of snow :roll:

Yeah I know I'm just picking on him, I have steelies on my runabout. Although I quite like them, don't have to clean them.
 
It transforms the X5 from a completely useless and dangerous car in the snow into an extremely capably car that can actually drive up straight mountains of ice like I did during ski holidays.

Never needed snow chains with them on and as said, on pure ice the car will move and stop without problems.

On summers, a 1% hill will either leave the car standing trying to get uphill, or slide all the way down it.
 
i appreciate the reasoning but i think i would have put the £600 into a set of winter tyres for the proper wheels :wink:
it does look proper pants but just think of the amusement you,l give to all those who hate 4X4's :)

I could probably knock you up a set of spacers if you decide you want some. Hope we get some snow now after all the effort you have gone too.
 
So its more the offset then the actual size of the wheel, as not much in it between 255 and 285.

Who cares what it looks like in winter... Looks a damn sight better like that then abandoned in snow, or worse in a hedge!
