Away on holiday at the moment and have a mega road trip planned for tomorrow around mid Wales and the Brecons.

Car was filthy from a few days driving tiny little lanes full of crap, so with only bottles for rinsing, a pack of microfibres and some Meguiars Waterless Wash & Wax I gave the Zed the once over.

I think if you're starting a days driving the car should be looking half decent, the Mrs says I'm 'off my rocker' as it will be dirty in a few hours - let's see who is right.

Ah damn! I filled in the poll before I read the reasons. Had to go back and change it.
I'm with you, has to be done. It's all a question of high personal standards.

Looks good. And the question I would ask the Mrs. when she stated "'off my rocker' as it will be dirty in a few hours ". Don't you want to look your best when you go out? The car feels the same way.

You saying your Mrs will be dirty in a few hours??

everyone knows a clean car is a faster car, just optimising its performance before some glorious mid wales A roads.

Hopefully.

This is mine in France over 4 days. Whilst one or two washed theirs during I let mine wear its battle scars for the trip.

Shows it gets :driving:

Seriously soiled Zed is that - I'm sure it was majorly satisfying when you did come to clean it!!

That is one sweet looking Zed, and as a detailer I totally get where you're coming from
When we recently went on a trip to lake Como, I was glad to discover I wasn't the only one with this affliction; every single car there ("96 Daimler Super V8, Brera SV6 and my Zed) had a quick wash kit in the boot!

Zed has to be clean at the start of any road trip. Even if it's raining I clean mine before a trip. :D

Hope it's a good one. MrsG and I are driving around South Wales this week. In the Brekons a few days back. In Tenby the past few nights. Alas the Zed is in the garrge at home until I can get the exhaust fixed. The Mx5 is in getting a wayward alarm sorted. So we are in my little daily shed. Loving the driving all the same. Which just proves it's more about the roads and an enjoyment of driving than the car. :D :driving:

Agree, has to be done. It is such an easy vehicle to clean anyway, why not do it.

I have often said, my house may be a mess but I have to invite you over for you to see that mess. But, my car, on the other hand, is seen by anyone I pass by and I want it to represent me and leave a good impression...Even if under the surface I’m, well...not so neat and clean.

Guilty as charged m'lud...

When we're away, I take a collapsible bucket, supply of MF cloths and some ONR to get rid of the grime.

So long as the roof is down all that matters is the roads, surroundings and buzz. Enjoy your trip. The black mountain pass is a cracking route.

My cupboards and drawers are same, OCD on what I can see, the rest, forget about it. :D

Good man! The week before setting off on a road trip around Brecons and Snowdonia, I fully detailed my car including wheel arch liners. To top it off, I packed my wash mits, wheel brush, etc., to wash my car somewhere in Wales if the weather played ball.

1st day was forecast to rain, and rain it did! 2nd day onwards, no rain, so we washed our cars.

Clean cars, great scenery, (+photographer friend) = great pics.

I hope you enjoy the road trip as much as I did.
