After visiting a couple of wheel restorers and a couple of detailers yesterday I spent the night at my folks home and woke up this morning with the day off, nothing in particular to do but make my way home down the usual road, Black Isle, Inverness, Loch Ness, Invergarry to Spean Bridge.
Today I thought I would go the alternative route through Beauly and over the hill to Invergarry which is usually quiet and a nice wee road.
First though went to Dingwall to get a Cockburns haggis (best going) and instead of turning to Conon / Beauly went to Strathpeffer and A835 out towards Ullapool!
Just after Garve you can turn off at Gorstan on the Achnasheen road (A832) which is a brilliant bit of road where you can really stretch the legs in places with a good view of the road ahead.
After that you drop onto the A890 (some good road and some single track where you have to be careful) to join up with my favourite road A87 (Eileen Donan) to Invergarry and home.
Had a great drive and at this time of year almost empty. Anyway a few pics.
Stopped at Elieen Donan for a coffee and I was the only car there! Toilets and one wee lassie at the gift shop for takeaway coffee was open. A bit different from the Skye trip when we had to park miles away!
Anyway a great trip. Starting to bond with the winter tyres eventually!
