The Cat and Fiddle Road

After many travels and many addresses, I now live in Sale, Greater Manchester, and wondered what the current state of affairs exist on the Macclesfield to Buxton Road is like, via the Cat and Fiddle pub?
30 years ago I had my first Mk1 MX5 and used to slide that little car all over the hair pins on that marvelous stretch of Peak District heaven.
I am itching to get the Z4 on that Road but I'm hearing that it is heavily regulated for speed and its hard to enjoy as it once was.
If there happens to be any members who know the Road, or can recommend a similar stretch reachable from Manchester, I would love to hear from you.

It can't be "enjoyed" because too many people have died up there (apart from one very lucky guy that i saw come a cropper). 50 mph limit enforced by average speed cameras (which may or may not be actually working) and in the summer they have the heli and drones up as well.

Thanks RH.
That confirms what I've heard. Just have to go steady on the straights and 50mph on the bends.....should be a challange

If you have old sloppy suspension and let a bit of air out of the tyres you could probably have just as much fun and stay within the speed limit.

Haha....thanks for that thumbsup:
If I live, I'll let you know how it went.
Just taking a leaf out of James Hunt's book.
He drove an old A35 van as it was the only way he could drive on the limit and keep his licence.

I used to live in Buxton & go to school in Macclesfield
I have nothing useful to add to this thread :D
Just wanted to point that out
