The best value for money mods?

Hey everyone

I've had my 2003 Z4 for a couple of years now and have loved every second of it..

It's standard apart from an exhaust tip and I put and aux cable in

Only thing is now I'm looking to change it up a bit. I love the look of the car but wondered what value for money mods/changes I could do to change the car slightly?

I am going to have a go at drilling out the exhaust and removing some wadding, just to see what difference it can make.

Is there anything else I could do (good value for money) to keep the car fresh and change it up?

I'm debating a coloured scoop behind the grill and maybe painting the callipers.

Share your ideas! What do you think is a good value mod? :D

ZHP - looks and effect
Clear indicators - look
Gearbox and diff oil change if not already done - general TLC, better feel.

best value for money (and simple) mod has got to LED upgrade(interior and license plate)

can do the whole lot for about £8

some guys prefer to fit whole LED units for license plate but you can just swap out the bulbs in the original units. It's quicker and cheaper and the whole units from Ebay can be a bit overbearing - you might inadvertently illuminate a whole village.

when you unlock your car at night and get a bright white glow from the interior it's oddly satisfying and it really updates the car

Depends on whether you define 'value for money' as 'not expensive'? I would recommend the Gaptech RCH+ for opening/closing the hood. Not cheap, but I think value for money if the 25% off deal is still going.
Painting the brake hubs and calipers is also good (and inexpensive) if your current setup is showing signs of wear and tear. I'd recommend getting a brush on kit rather than the rattle can job, just for more accurate application. I did mine black - happy with the result as they looked a bit grim with chipping and rust showing through before.

Like most of the members on here I've done a fair percent of the cosmetic mods. But hands down, the best value for money were the £30 LED angels I sourced and installed

2. 330Ci front brake upgrade with braided hoses and updated pads/ fluid
3. Bilstein B12 kit or suspension refresh
4. Sound Gen Mod (free)
5. ZHP
6. Gaptech
7. LSD

I wish I had the balls/skill to do this.

Exhaust bypass pipes

What Z4 have you got? 3.0?

A 2.5 sport

Great response from everyone! It's given me some ideas. I also have non run flats already on as I felt I was driving a tram sometimes. Keep them coming and I will have a go at some of them and see what you guys think

I'm not too worried about the overall cost, just the value for money. What people feel has been the most worthwhile mods they have done!

The car is going into a body shop tomorrow as some idiot kicked my wing mirror off, so s new one of those is beingput on and the lights are being professionally cleaned and baked.

I'm thinking red or black for mine? The car is black and red does always look good! It's cheap enough at the body shop to get them done and by the time I got the paint I might as well have got them to do it - £20 a calliper and that's without me asking for discount yet

I would say LSD is the best thing i have done. And then fitting and getting coilovers fitted and working how i want them.

Changing the exhaust and getting a bit more noise will make you smile. New wheels will change the look of the car. Steering wheel gear knob will change the feel of how you interact with the car.

So many things could be done A new gear knob would be a good starting point. The z4 one is rubbish and far to tall.

You can retro fit a sound gen for around £200, Exhaust bypass probably similar. All the noise you need !

Can the sound gen mod be done on my model? 2.5l 2003?

I quite fancy one of these in due course, what is it about the LSD that you like the best?

Do you feel it in normal driving in a positive way or is it really only worth it when you're caning it?

It helps front end turn in is better. The traction control is not so intrusive as the wheels can get power where they need it. With the TC turned off you feel what is happening and can control the car. Plus you will get better drive out of corners.
