The April 2023 Photo Competition - Comments

Great photo Sean Woods  What do the Japanese banners/flags say ? :?
Si
Thank you. :D
Okay, the flags say "西浦不動 ガン封じ孝" which roughly translates to "Nishiura's famous cancer healing temple".
Nishiura is the suburb we live in.
People come here from all over Japan to "heal" or "prevent" cancer.
In fact, the temple is basically our backyard!
I will try and find a photo from our upstairs window, just wait a sec....
The snowy photo is from January of 2022.

Wow ! That snowy scene looks amazing Sean. Thanks for translating. Fascinating stuff. Very envious of your view

I hope to share as much of Japan in my photos of Vanessa (my car)as I can.
It makes me happy knowing that someone finds my photos interesting!

Great photos guys!
Also, it is nice to see more newbies posting!
Welcome one and all! :friends:
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend!
:driving:

[ref]Justino[/ref], great photo!
Thanks for the back story as well, I love hearing a little bit about a photo as I find the story it tells very fascinating!
ありがとうございました! :D

Whoa, Sean that's a beautiful picture with the Cherry blossoms and Vanessa reflects like glass. :o
I lived in Japan for two years, many moons ago and with fond memories of the Cherry blossoms. I've only seen in DC since that time.

I don't know how Emma can compete with that picture and all the other members pics submitted so far. I'm hoping the red Brembo calipers arrive soon... I'm trying to figure out a nice site for a pic, but I don't know that I have anything like what you guys are submitting!

Really nice pics getting submitted! :)

[ref]3gGT01[/ref], Hello there!
Thanks, I think that the cherry blossoms really compliment her!
Wow, it is a small world isn't it! I hope your two years here were filled with great memories.
The blossoms do not last long and I tend to miss them as I work 6 days a week and by the time I get to Sunday the weather is poo or the wind has obliterated them! However, this year I got some really nice opportunities!
:D
Well, I have never actually looked at the monthly photo competitions as competition.
Funnily enough, I view it as joining in the chorus rather than trying to stand out.
I believe that Emma will compliment the rest of the cars here perfectly!
I look forward to seeing your submissions in the near future!
 x1000
And yes, the submissions are truly awesome aren't they! :D

Here are a couple more pic's to enjoy.

[ref]Sean Woods[/ref],

Yes, many good memories of Japan. I flew back to the states, married and then flew us both back to Japan. My wife loved shopping at the local markets. Still married... The one I bought the M for, as she also liked the M's we would see at the race track.

Yeah, if I think about it, yep I'm very competitive and love going to the track, but will likely not take Emma, as you can get a lot of road rash going after the cars in front of you. The reason my wife doesn't let me drive Emma much... I have a 92 NSX and after I repaint her, she won't be going to the track any more either.

I really like that 1st picture above with the cheery blossoms in the background, you could have easily submitted that picture as well. :o

I would just like to have a nice picture worth entering the competition. :D

[ref]3gGT01[/ref], Howdy Tom!
Thanks for sharing! :D
Must have been nice sharing the Japanese adventure with your wife!

Racing, I totally understand what you are saying. I used to dabble in racing, mainly carting.
Even obtained an international B license. After which I was aiming at an A license in order to compete in the Porsche Carrera cup races here in Japan. :driving:
I really enjoyed watching them race when they were support races for the Japanese GP (F1).
I always wanted to be an endurance race driver though.

NSX! Awesome! That car is still smoking hot if you ask me! My favorite Honda cars are the NSX and the S2000!
I would love to see pic's of it some time!

Ironically I was going to submit that picture, however, my son really wanted me to submit the one I submitted.
I can't say no to my boy, I enjoy including him in my hobbies and passions.
Here is an old low quality picture of me racing in a cart.

Wow, very cool that you were working on an international B license for Porsche Cup racing. I'm close to the Austin F1 track, COTA. I did a 2 day weekend event racing in the NSX on the F1 COTA track along with my two brothers. :driving: Best track surface and track I have ever raced on. The group did manage to crash or total like 4 cars that weekend, it was a record number! M3 in the S's, Ferrari in turn 1, a students new GTR with instructor driving in turn 20 and my brother was in his instructors C5 Z06 and he totalled it in turn 18, have an in car video of that. So crowded at the F1 events any more, some of my friends have quit attending, of course best seat in the house is on the TV.

I'm quite fond of the GT3 RS's and GT4's. Used are bringing more than what the car's cost new... Would want a manual tranny model. I think it would be cheaper to order what I want, than buy used! :(

Not sure people want to see an NSX on a BMW forum, but could always PM a pic.

Thanks for the cart pic, full race outfit at that! :D

Good that your son is interested in your hobbies! I have my son's 2000 Civic Si in my shop doing some body work and an A/C system replacement...we work on it as he has time, instead of me doing all the work and handing it over... :)

I follow the S2000's, prices up on those too!

[ref]3gGT01[/ref], Good day Tom!
Thanks, I was quite motivated back then! Even broke a rib in the one race I decided not to wear a rib protector!
A mistake I never made again!

It is great you and your son get to work on his car together rather than you do all the work!
I would have loved to drive around COTA, looks to be a fun challenge!
Some nice cars that were obliterated that weekend!

Some cars just get more expensive as time goes on, real shame though.
I do not mind if you wish to PM a pic of your NSX, whichever you are comfortable with is okay with me!
This thread is going off topic isn't it?
I hope more people submit pic's this month, as I love seeing Z4's in interesting environments!

I see that some of the guys don't have their User Control Panel location set. It would be interesting to know where some of the pictures were taken at. Looks like I need to setup mine too! :o I guess you could be on a trip anywhere with your car and snap a nice photo! Probably easy to go from country to country in Europe, but Texas takes a long time to drive out of state, especially in Central Texas. :D

I can imagine how much time it must take, Texas is rather huge on the map! :dizzy:
I am rather lucky in that there are plenty of interesting and beautiful locations for photography nearby.
I just need a break from work and chores.
I have known a few gentlemen that frequently travelled from the UK to various European countries by car.
Especially to drive on the Nordschleife / Nürburgring!
I wish I could take Vanessa there!
Aren't there any interesting landmarks or architecture near where you live to take Emma to? :camera:

Yes, I'm sure there are plenty of nice locations for a shot, I just need to look for them!
I used to live down by the coast, would definitely be some nice shots there. Some of gorgeous scenic pictures being posted are amazing!

They should be sending my red 4 piston Brembo calipers, for the front, next week. Looking forward to installing those. Of course, my wife said, what are those going to do for me? :D

Finding the time can sometimes be a challenge, I look forward to seeing pictures of Emma when you do submit them!
The coast would have been great!
Yes, the submissions thus far have been really awesome.
The red calipers would look really nice on her!
I guess your wife suspects the calipers are more for you than her. Heee, hee, hee...
I was considering getting some for Vanessa as well. Either red or blue. :D
Will see, as finances are a bit stretched thin at the moment.
Take care Tom. :driving:

[ref]rdgreen[/ref],

Good thing you mentioned the kangaroo's, I didn't immediately pickup on them!
Nice pic! I like your interior color, goes very nicely with the exterior color.

Welcome to the family DannyZ206! :friends:
