That wasn’t planned

Well after selling my very nice but very underused (in my ownership) E89 to a fellow forum member in January I wasn’t planning on getting anything to replace it. I did consider selling my F22 ‘daily’ too and getting something a bit sportier for both work and weekend requirements such as an M4 or TTRS. Anyway that idea has been knocked on the head as I’ve just got this :D

A big thank you to member @dougie1142 for taking a look at it on my behalf as it was local to him and over a 5hr drive away for me so not viable during these times.

It’s in pretty good condition but I’ve already identified a couple jobs needing doing not least of which is a leak dripping from the front of the car. It’s not oil or coolant so fingers crossed it’s windscreen washer related but a PITA to find no doubt.

Is it a trick of the light or are the side windows partly tinted - or rather, partly not tinted? If so, it will probably only be a matter of time before plod pulls you for it.
And, to me, it turns a nice looking e86 into a bit of a Halford's-special chavmobile. IMHO...

I think it's the angle making it look darker than it is - my guess is it's the optional Privacy Glass as mine looks really dark viewed from any angle other than straight on.

When I had the rears done on mine I also had the driver and passenger windows slightly tinted. 4 years on and I've still not been pulled... Zed14.jpg

It’s the angle and light. Drivers and passenger windows aren’t tinted.

Nice... sharp lines in Titanium the E86.

The leak will almost definitely be the headlight washer. Shouldn’t be an MOT issue, I’d be tempted to pull the fuse and plug the tank... avoiding water all over the front of the car.

Silver coupes don't seem to be the most desirable but it's the best colour for showing off the lines. (I might be biased)

I agree with this. I think the silver E86s are stunning.

What a looker!

Leak could poss be where the hose joins to the headlight washer unit as I had that issue on mine when looking into a foglight issue. I put some ptfe tape round the nipple (heh) and that sorted it.

After removing the reservoir, giving it and the filters a clean and reassembling the leak seems to have stopped (touch wood). The near side washer still isn’t working though so I’ve just removed fuse 40 and hopefully that’ll be the end of it. I’m not fussed about having the headlamp washers working. I just didn’t like the idea of a constant leak.

Very nice, and I also like the Sikver Coupes.
The 108s suit it,but for me,I think (although a popular way to go), some Genuine Csl alloys or good reps,19inch, done in a Light to Medium Titanium or Gunmetal colour would make this really stand out.

Nice buy,golf geezer

Hmm you’re powers of persuasion are strong. The 108’s on it are in good condition albeit they’ve definitely been refurbished. I agree though that it’s all a bit ‘silver’ so a darker wheel colour is the way to go. Got gunmetal alloys on my 220 coupe and it really looks better than silver imho. I’ll start to keep an eye out for a decent second hand set of CSL’s or similar and then get them powder coated if need be.
