That one that didn't live up to expectations...

Following on from ZermattV's thread about your favorite car that got away,
Made me wonder about the ones that for whatever reason did'nt quite do it for you.

Mine would be my Peugeot 406 Coupe, I still think it's a great looking car even now, but the interior was straight out the saloon not even a nod to a more sporting interior with better seats and the steering was to light it was completely uninvolving to drive that said as a GT car covering a big distance easily it was quite good, I was just expecting something much to drive like my previous 405 Mi16 had been.

MGTF : booked a test drive on a sunday afternoon ... on the way past the mazda dealer and tried an MX-5 ( did n't like the look of them at the time.. but they were considered the reference at the time ( much better than the 1.9 Z3 :fuelfire: )).

got in the MGTF drove it 1 mile up the road and said to the dealer .. I'm wasting your time here drove the MX-5 this morning and its a much better car .. shall we go back now.

as an aside i was really diaspointed by the first BMW mini in cooper guise ... had one for a week as a hire car and it left me cold.

Iv enjoyed all cars I have owned.

But numerous cars that I have hated driving.

Saxo 1.0l - (Nuff said). And it died on me within a wekk
Renault Megane CC. Absolutely guttless, ridulously big clutch, just horrible horrible to drive. It also had brakes that ripped your face off with even the slight touch of the peddle.
A3 1.6 Sport. Absolutely nothing sporty about it. very very very gutless. Otherwise nice to drive. but my god it was sloooooooww (My 1.3 Yaris was quicker!)

Volvo S40 1.8 SE (1998). I had it just over 6 months. It was not like other Volvo, e.g. 850 or S70. It was cheaply built, interior was very plastic.

Mk4 (2000 Y-plate) Vauxhall Astra 1.6 16v SXI. To be honest I wasn't expecting much but even then it didn't come anywhere close to my expectations. The plan was to use it as a stepping stone between my first car (a Punto Sporting 1.2 16v) and something better. Wish I'd kept the Punto. I bought the Astra at trade (auction) and the plan was to keep it for 12-18 months, sell at minimum loss, and buy something better.

In the end I sold it within 5 months and bought my Clio 172 mentioned in the "good car" thread. The Astra was sooooooo dull and just wasn't exciting in any way. Didn't even handle even remotely well despite apparently sportier suspension setup than a bog standard 1.6 LS astra. So disappointing.
