Thanks for the help - bought a coupe! (pics)

Surprised that no one could access the service book!
So BMW accept up to 3 years without a service, rubbish they are trying to con you into buying the car so when there is is a problem everyone will deny 'the 3 year rule'. What happens if you keep the car and want the mondial warranty?
Regardless of spec and I know you want the car you must walk away if the service is missing and shame on Rybrook for selling the car.
There are plenty of cars around it's just patience, I waited 3 months before I found the car I wanted.

That's not true regarding the 3 year intervals I've been in touch with BMW UK with regards to servicing and it's definitely 2 years, this is also stated in the owners hand book.

I'd be very surprised if they give you a 2 year warranty I've tried that one before.

Keep us posted

You car was sold to you as having a FBMWSH. It hasn't, simple as that. Shame on the 'engineer' with the 3 year comment - do you think they'd have been so relaxed if you'd brought it in as a p/x? I'd definitely be pushing for some compensation over this fella.

Worton - just call the number I posted above. It'll cost you a couple of quid but you'll know the full history of the car.

Adam81's service schedule is NOT correct. He is right as so far as it needs oil and brake fluid at maximum 2 year intervals. The actual inspection services are as indicated by the dashboard.

So nov'06 car. History should be, pre delivery inspection. 1200 mile service with 600 miles of this so 1800 max. This would reset dashboard to show around 15400 miles to oil service, if however the mileage is not covered before two years have passed it needs oil and brake fluid anyway. The dash does NOT get reset if loads of miles still to go, run on to complete second oil service at which point dash gets reset with next one due being insp1 in around 15400 miles. Again if two years passes and it shows 10000 miles to insp, it's another oil and brake change. Another two years passes and dash shows 6000 miles to insp, it's another oil and brake change. Dash only gets reset when you hit that service. BMW technicians frequently reset dash in error at the two year oil and cock up the intervals which cannot be undo.

On a 56 plate car with 25k which is similar to my M it should have had an oil change at two years or around 12000 miles as you never get the full 15400 it drops quicker as it's based on litres if fuel used. It then would have had an insp1 at around 24000 miles, in my case at 4 years old. Brake fluid every 2 years from date of production and the crucial 1200 mile fluid change before 1800 miles.

As said 3 years on time is not acceptable as far as I know.

VvrooomM, this was the order I was given by BMW so now I'm a little confused lol

I wasn't aware non M's needed the 1200 mile service too ?

I dont have one yet ....... This is what I was told by BMW UK as I stated

It's easy to see how confusion can come about. When I had my SLK, Mercedes were in the process of changing back to service intervals instead of variable, go at 12k or once a year and that's it, at least you know where you stand.

With time and mileage based changes it gets a bit too confusing :?
