Thanks for all the advice guys.

Yes the 3.0i would be more practical, but that is not me.

Yes convertibles are not great for the UK, but had a slk230 and then my TT convertible and for those few days a year you can get the hood down it is worth it, well for me anyway.

As for the extra running costs, all it means is a couple of less pairs of jimmy choos a year

So just put the deposit down on an 56 Z4 M roadster in imola red. Managed to get the dealer down by £950 but it was very hard work.

Picking it up thursday cannot wait. :D

Anyone want a nice 04 TT 3.2 DSG which i now have to sell?

Oh one last question - is there any value in all the extra insurance - assured resale value or the one why if i write it off or it gets pinched they give you the full buying price back. I am sure they will try and talk me into some of this when i pick it up, just want to get my head around all their extra bits. Noticed they also do the 5 year service package, bit pricey for the M, especially as it is an 56 model, will probably upgrade it an a year or so, any thoughts?

Is there any other Z4m driver in the leicester area?

Ann

The service package is probably not worth it due to the extended service intervals - and I thought it was only available as a new car option anyway.

The 'gap/shortfall' insurance - the back to invoice insurance, rather than the back to market value one - is not expensive (as they're VERY amenable to negotiating on that and the tyre insurance), and will enable you to clear any outstanding finance should you write the car off. After the first year you'd even end up with a few grand in your pocket too!

The tyre insurance paid for itself in my case, less than a month after I bought the car and hit a flooded pothole in the dark!

The 'paint protection' is a waste of money and the fact that they want to charge in excess of £250 for a £25 treatment is terrible - although some of their other insurances can be had cheaper elsewhere too.

I have the gap insurance on mine. Was fairly cheap for 3 years (couple of hundred I think). With the current depreciation levels, the gap would be huge for me, something like 20k.

Must park my car in Brixton before it is 3 years old :)

I went here for my Gap Insurance http://www.hcforyou.co.uk/insurance/gapinsuranceold/

Looking forward to seeing some pics, sounds nice. Like them in Imola

Congrats

Thursday will be slow coming!

Got the shortfall insurance on mine - cant remember how much it was but wasnt much

Congrats with your choice.

I think you'd made your mind up anyway - and you won't be disappointed no matter what!

:D

Good thinking!

I got the BMW gap when I bought mine (they quoted a grand initially :D ) but endded up paying £275

Got quoted £275 for the short fall insurance, think i will try the insurance co in the link someone sent that looked good. However they did offer me a real good deal on fianance, i am in the fortunate position i do not need it, but at 3.5%, I thought that was really good, ford where trying to give me 8.9% when i was looking at a new ST, no wonder people are not buying cars.

However, BMW insurance what a nightmare. Quoted me £1400  I pay £900 a year for a audi tt 3.2, a nissan 350z and a Diesel citeron synergie (that is for the littest hobo, my avatar pic, too large and hairy for the TT or 350z) on a multi car policy with Admiral, so think i will give BMW insurance a miss. The free 7 day insurance is a joke, just spent 30 mins trying to sort it, they insist on a tracker, which is fine it has one, but they wont cover me for theft if i do not start the subscription immediately, Admiral do not insist on it, so at least it give me a bit of breather not to have to pay for that this month. Not sure how effective these trackers are - anyone else bother with the Tracker?

THIS IS GOING TO BE THE LONGEST THREE DAYS OF MY LIFE.

Couldnt even sleep this weekend, so excited, just like a kid - how sad is that?!

Ann

Dont bother with a tracker myself, more cost for a yearly subscription and i dont want the car back if its nicked!

Mine had a tracker fitted by the previous owner, so I just had to pay the £350 for the lifetime subscription. Well worth it in my area if only for the reduction in premiums and greater choice of insurers to go through.

I've already been called once when it was on the back of a recovery truck when I got a puncture :P

If it does get nicked it'll affect your premium more if it doesn't get recovered (i.e. total loss) than if it's found with some/any damage.
