I loved Terry Pratchett since Only You Can Save Mankind, and the Discworld novels were my first "grown up" books I read as a kid. Sad day.

This actually brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye I started reading his books when I was 12 and have bought and loved every new Discworld book ever since. And the ones written before I discovered him. Read 'em all, and he's probably single-handedly responsible for initially stoking my still voracious reading habit. A man with a unique talent for making the mundane interesting, ridiculous and hilarious.

I love the Twitter announcement - I hope he wrote that himself at some point with the intent that it was tweeted when he passed.

Rest in peace Terry - your legacy will last, and last and last, just like The Great A'Tuin

Apparently, the twitter feeds were posted by his daughter (according to Sky News) or his assistant Rob Wilkins (according to the BBC News) - must have been difficult if it was his daughter, but so relevant to him. Such sad news, love the Discworld books.
