Anyone used terraclean ? Was over at meercat exhausts locally, getting a exhaust done on my brothers Range Rover. The owner was telling me some of the results that the cars/vans are getting after having the treatment. It's a company on the same estate that's doing it. Thinking of getting my 335d done first & my brothers Range Rover as a trial before I get the zed done. Got a great price £170 for both ! Any thoughts or experience ?

I've recently had mine done, as the injectors weren't exactly brilliant. They also cleaned the plenum chamber
Cost was £120. (plenum chamber was extra, as it needs a second can)

It might just be my imagination, but the car does seem to run a tad smoother.
Certainly removing the injectors, they definitely are cleaner.

Was it worth it? well.. it's seemingly fixed my "lean fuel misfire" error codes that I was occasionally getting - but I guess only time will tell.

Cheers sk93, going to get the diesel done first & see how that goes, the guy says you do see better improvements on diesels than petrol. Do more miles on the 335d than the zed. Let you know what the results are.

Not heard anything good about this service, there was a massive thread on the DW forum about it, with people wondering what they had paid the money for....

It was on wheeler dealers as Edd has something to do with the company.

It's all snake oil and placebo effect (IMO)

Booked my brothers Range Rover & my 335d in for tomorrow nite, so will let you know what we think

Is either car running badly, if not what are you hoping to achieve? That's quite an outlay to recoup....

Just snake oil I'm afraid. If such treatments were a valid part of car servicing then manufacturers would offer or recommend it. Try to find one....

Best to find the source of any engine problem and fix it.

In response to questions it was used on Wheeler Dealers and surprisingly (not) EdC is associated with the distributor in the uk.

I don't know...

That's certainly made a difference in emissions...

Here's a recommendation from a Volvo dealership:

The reason manufacturers don’t recommend such service is that they do not see it as necessary.
Then again, they don't recommend quite a lot of things we think are important..

Obviously I'm a total cynic having seen everything from fuel additives to magnets on fuel lines and a hundred other ideas designed as quick fixes for car issues and frankly non of them have any long term benefit.

No doubt the instant pre and post tests show a difference, but frankly I'd expect the same if I tested the same car pre and long motorway run to warm up and clean the engine out, or if I gave it a service.

A Volvo dealer letter from 2001 and a magaziner article hardly count as widespread credible endorsement and if there was such the company would have a huge catalogue of such endorsements. ed part owns it so he's hardly a credible reference.

My comment about dealer recommendations would be that if it were of long term benefit to the engine they would without doubt suggest it in the quest for reduced emissions. Individual dealers would also soon cotton onto sellign and recommending it to all customers with cars over x years old. Look at how many items they sell that aren't required to make a few quid such as paint protection, scotch guard, etc.

Bottom line though is if your happy with the amount it costs and feel a difference then it's a valuable purchase.

I am inherently distrustful of any website that forces you to provide them with personal details just as part of their "branch locator" service, and for which no pricing is listed on their website (that I could find).

Seems to me to be the car equivalent of 6-second-abs...

Both cars are running fine. My brother is getting 20mpg from his RR & is hoping to get better mpg, some reports are suggesting that there is significant gains to be had. On the 335d want to see if there is improvement on mpg. Car is remapped & returning average of 38mpg & up to 46mpg on a good run, witch is great. But for £80 think it's worth a punt, be interesting to see if there will be a improvement.
