Well, am still on the lookout for my Z4...

I have been looking at 03-04 plates but the average price on autotrader is about £12K, so when i spotted this:

http://www.oakmeremotorgroup.co.uk/used-cars/view/155960/BMW-Z4-3.0Si-Roadster-(N99LAN)

I was interested, as its an 06 plate SI model for about £4K more than most of the 03-04 plates.

So anyway I went and had a look this afternoon, the garage looked pretty nice with lots of lotus elise's and a few porsches, however the Z4 was not in as good condition as I had hoped. It was evident that they had not washed it since they got it, which I hate as its hard to judge a car when its covered in dust and pollen. The interior is in pretty good condition, the only bad thing is the gear knob that seems to have paint missing around the top.

Exterior wise its not brilliant... there are multiple light scratches and scuffs all over the car, they said they would polish them all out, but would not start repsraying (which is fair enough). But the worst thing was the alloys... they are the 18" star composite type and they were pretty bad, there were blemishes/ corrosion beneath the "lacquer" layer, so I could see it, but not feel it. There was scuffs and some kirbing on the fronts and they generally looked pretty rough. The garage said they would not pay for a refurb, but may contribute the costs.

Then I went on a very quick test drive (literally 2 minutes as they were closing). I have to say that I was very impressed. THere were no rattles or squeaks, the car was lovely and smooth.. sounded lovely too.

Anyway its left to me now, If I wam interested they will arrange a proper test drive. What do people on here think? I still think £16.5K is pretty high for this age car, the alloys are also a problem, as even after a refurb I assume they will corrode again?

I knew I should not have driven one.... now I am hooked even more!

up to you of course...

if thats the picture of the interior the listed specification is wrong though, it mentions Cruise but there is no Cruise stalk :?

I shouldn't wory about the wheels to be honest - if the garage will give you some money towards the refirb.
You would have to get them done anyway in a year or so - I try my best to keep mine looking good but they are just a bad design (look good however)
